Whitsunday Terraces Door Cleaning

Whitsunday Terraces Resort needs external doors cleaned periodically, so this should be in the maintenance list. I would think checking each two months in the wet season, less frequently in the dry season.

Anchor Terrace Doors

Doors and door frames over the start of 2011 extended wet season were attacked by mould, which was not being cleaned off. Cleaning is the responsibility of the Caretaker.

This former issue has been dealt with by new managers in late 2011, and following years.

Out of the Way Doors May Need Attention

Some doors are not on the usual pathways that staff take from area to area. These can easily be inadvertently neglected. Any list of these doors would start with Strand, and include the workshop door, and electrical utilities and storage room doors.

Laundry and Common Areas

Sometimes a door surround is not cleaned, despite the door being cleaned. I am thinking seriously of just standing there banging my head on the clean door. I suspect the manager feels the same about that sort of thing.

The interiors of all the laundries were clean and tidy, as they should be.

Scheduling Door Cleaning

Cleaning of external doors needs to be in the periodic maintenance schedule.

My guess is that in a terrible wet season like 2011, many doors need to be cleaned every two months. During the dry season, far less frequently, possibly only four to six months. Some doors are relatively well protected, and show little sign of being a problem. Those partially exposed to weather are worst.

Someone from Resort Management needs to do periodic walk throughs and spot which doors are being missed by whoever is doing the cleaning.

I experimented by not cleaning my own entry door, which is very exposed. I cleaned it at the end of May 2011, after leaving it since January. It was showing signs of mould well before then. On that basis, I think a reasonable maintenance schedule for cleaning average doors would be at least every three months during the rainy season, but perhaps as long as six months if you have a dry season.
